It is a matter of great pleasure to welcome our students on college website. A. N. College, Patna is named after a sagacious and visionary leader, Bihar Vibhuti Dr. Anugrah Narayan Sinha. This college imparts holistic education to our students and strongly believes in their all round development. We believe that "Education is not only the learning of fact but the training of mind to think". This college, since 2005 has been accorded "Centre for Potential for Excellence (CPE)" status by UGC thrice. In 2006, it was accredited with "Grade A" by NAAC and also in 2011 has been re-accredited with "Grade A". The college is fully attuned to face challenges posed by growing demands in the field of higher education.

               Since its inception in 1956, year by year this college has scaled new heights and has grown into a prestigious institution of the state and has also earned accolades at national and international levels. It is a co-educational and multi-disciplinary college. The college has 25 departments including vocational/professional courses. These departments run U.G., P.G. and Ph.D. courses. I take pride in announcing that the college by starting the Commerce Faculty will add another feather in its cap. The college lays strong focus on academic progress of the students and by running various professional courses and the Community College, it offers extensive arrays of opportunities for the students.

               The college is conducting pioneering research works with the funds provided by agencies like UGC, DST, DBT, DAE, UNICEF, BARC and various distinguished agencies. Researches by our Teachers and Students in Arsenic and Fluoride contaminations, material science, pure and applied science, geography, psychology, social sciences and humanities have been Internationaly acclaimed. This college is a distinguished partner of "Erasmus Mundas Academic Exchange Programme, "EURINDIA" sponsored by European Economic Commission and also under "UKIERI" (UK India research initiative). Students from Europe are working in A.N. College Patna on research projects related to "Arsenic Mitigation" and our teachers and students are also working in Europian Universities under the exchange programme. The college has numerous collaborations with Universities of Europe, USA, Australia and South Korea.

               I would gratefully acknowledge the unflinching resolve and resolute determinations of our teachers, staffs and students to stay ahead of time and to bring laurels from academia and society by achieving excellence in various fields. Hard working, experienced, efficient and dedicated set of teachers have by their herculean efforts turned this college into a prestigious institution.

               The college is also conscious of its social responsibility. Many awareness programmes and social services launched by different departments, NSS and NCC units of the college have contributed prominently towards changing fabrics and dynamics of the society. The college regularly organizes seminars / symposia / workshops debate and essay competitions etc. on socially and scientifically relevant topics. Our endeavour is to preserve "Heritage and Environment". The college has many gardens, herbals and green parks, rain water harvesting plant to conserve water and recharge ground water, vermi-compositing unit to minimize solid waste hazards. The college will soon have a big "Water Conservation Park". We believe in the adage "We donot inherit the earth from our ancestors, we borrow it from our children".
